In a devastating escalation of the ongoing conflict, Russian forces launched a massive drone attack on the southeastern Ukrainian city of Dnipro, resulting in the deaths of three individuals, including a child, and injuring at least 30 others. The attack, which occurred late Wednesday, caused widespread destruction to civilian infrastructure, including residential buildings, a dormitory, an educational institution, and a gymnasium.
Local authorities reported that the strikes triggered multiple fires across the city, with emergency services working tirelessly to contain the damage. Serhii Lysak, head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional administration, confirmed the casualties and emphasized the impact on civilians, including five children among the injured.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attack and called on international allies to provide additional air defense systems to protect the country. “Every defense package from partners for Ukraine now, every form of support from the world for our resilience, is literally protecting lives,” Zelenskyy stated on social media.
Meanwhile, a Ukrainian delegation, including Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, was in Paris for high-level talks with representatives from France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The discussions focused on securing long-term security guarantees for Ukraine and deterring future aggression from Russia. Andrii Yermak, head of the Presidential Office, described the talks as critical for the security of Ukraine and Europe.
The attack on Dnipro underscores the ongoing challenges faced by Ukraine as it seeks international support to counter Russian aggression. The Paris meetings are expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the future security framework for the region.
