Shreyas Iyer Pays Special Tribute to Indian Armed Forces at Toss for Operation Sindoor Success

Shreyas Iyer, captain of Punjab Kings (PBKS), paid a heartfelt tribute to the Indian Armed Forces at the toss ahead of their IPL 2025 clash against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. His gesture comes in recognition of the military’s efforts during Operation Sindoor, India’s recent counter-terrorism operation.

A Moment of Gratitude

Speaking at the toss, Iyer expressed his appreciation for the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, acknowledging their role in ensuring national security.

“Kudos to the Army forces who have worked for the country and made sure we are in a comfortable position,” Iyer stated, as players from both teams stood for the national anthem in a show of solidarity.

Operation Sindoor and IPL’s Tribute

Operation Sindoor was launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, with India conducting precision strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). The military operation was widely praised for its effectiveness, leading to a ceasefire agreement on May 10.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has actively honored the armed forces throughout IPL 2025. During the KKR vs CSK match at Eden Gardens, players stood shoulder-to-shoulder as the national anthem played, with a digital screen displaying the message: “Proud of the Indian Armed Forces”.

Punjab Kings’ Playoff Push

With PBKS currently third in the IPL standings, Iyer’s leadership has been instrumental in their campaign. A victory in this match could strengthen their chances of securing a top-two finish, ensuring a direct path to the Qualifier 1.

As IPL 2025 continues, tributes like Iyer’s serve as a reminder of the sacrifices made by the armed forces, reinforcing the deep connection between sports and national pride.
