Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has reportedly made a stunning offer to Andre Russell, inviting him to play for Pretoria Capitals in the 2026 SA20 season.

- Ganguly met Russell after KKR’s thrilling one-run victory against Rajasthan Royals on May 4, 2025, at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
- As per reports, Ganguly, who is the Director of Cricket at JSW Sports, extended an offer for Russell to join Pretoria Capitals, the sister franchise of Delhi Capitals.
- Russell, who has been a key player for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) since 2014, is yet to confirm his decision.
Russell’s Franchise History & SA20 Opportunity
- Russell currently plays for KKR in IPL, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in ILT20, Trinbago Knight Riders in CPL, and Los Angeles Knight Riders in MLC.
- However, the Knight Riders franchise does not have a team in SA20, making Pretoria Capitals a viable option for him.
- Cricket South Africa (CSA) has rescheduled the SA20 2026 season to start earlier (December 26, 2025), reducing the risk of a scheduling conflict with ILT20.
Will Russell Make the Move?
Reports suggest that Russell has shown interest in the offer, and Ganguly is optimistic about securing the signing. If the deal goes through, Russell will reunite with Delhi Capitals, where he started his IPL career in 2012-2013.
