Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha attended the state-level celebration of International Nurses Day 2025, organized by the Tripura Nursing Council at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan in Agartala.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Saha emphasized the vital role of nurses in healthcare and congratulated nursing professionals and students on the occasion. He highlighted the theme of this year’s celebration, “Our Nurses, Our Future,” and urged nurses to view their work as a form of social service.
The Chief Minister also stressed the importance of patience and compassion in nursing, stating that nurses are the backbone of the healthcare system. He encouraged nursing institutes to adhere to the guidelines set by the Nursing Council to ensure high-quality education and training.
During the event, awards were presented to outstanding nursing students, and three nursing institutes were recognized for their successful blood donation drives. Minister for Social Welfare and Social Education, Tinku Roy, acknowledged the critical role nurses played during the COVID-19 pandemic and emphasized the need for advanced training to strengthen the healthcare system.
Tripura currently has 2,130 nurses working across healthcare institutions, but officials pointed out the shortage of nursing staff in hospitals. The Chief Minister assured that steps would be taken to address this issue and improve healthcare services in the state.
The event served as a tribute to the dedication and hard work of nurses, reinforcing their indispensable contribution to society.
