Tripura CM Manik Saha Unveils Education Initiatives for Tribal Schools

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has announced a series of transformative education initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure and access to quality education in tribal schools across the state. Speaking in the Legislative Assembly on April 1, 2025, CM Saha emphasized the government’s commitment to bridging educational gaps in tribal areas through targeted investments and development projects.

Under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF), the state government has sanctioned ₹213.4 crore for the construction of buildings and ancillary facilities in 30 rural schools, with two schools already completed and 28 under construction. Additionally, ₹261.77 crore has been allocated for infrastructure development in 33 more schools under the same scheme.

The Chief Minister highlighted the government’s focus on creating modern educational environments, including the addition of classrooms, toilets, ramps, libraries, and laboratories. A total of ₹159.36 crore has been earmarked for infrastructure development in 62 schools under the Special Assistance for Capital Investment Scheme, with 15 schools completed and 47 in progress.

To further support tribal students, the government has approved the construction of 39 hostels under the PM JANMAN and DAJGUA projects. These hostels aim to provide safe and conducive living conditions for students pursuing education in remote areas.

CM Saha reiterated the administration’s dedication to inclusive education, stating that these initiatives are part of a broader strategy to empower tribal communities and ensure equitable access to educational opportunities. The government continues to collaborate with local organizations and stakeholders to address challenges and enhance the overall learning experience for tribal students.
