Tripura CM Saha Highlights Delayed Recognition of Ambedkar’s Vision

On the occasion of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s 134th birth anniversary, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha emphasized the delayed acknowledgment of Ambedkar’s groundbreaking ideas and contributions to Indian society. Speaking at a commemorative event held at Ujjayanta Palace in Agartala, CM Saha lauded Ambedkar’s journey from a marginalized background to becoming the chief architect of the Indian Constitution.

“Ambedkar’s ideas received recognition much later than they deserved,” Saha remarked, highlighting that it was only in 1990 that Ambedkar was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna. The Chief Minister reaffirmed his government’s commitment to following Ambedkar’s vision, particularly for the upliftment of the backward and poor communities.

Saha also outlined various welfare initiatives inspired by Ambedkar’s ideals, including free education, scholarships, and hostel accommodations for marginalized students. He pointed to the installation of a bronze statue of Ambedkar in front of the state Assembly last year as part of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ initiative, symbolizing the state’s dedication to preserving his legacy.

The event was attended by prominent leaders, including Scheduled Caste Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das, who praised Ambedkar’s relentless efforts for social justice and equality. Das also criticized opposition parties for allegedly misusing Ambedkar’s legacy for political gains.

The celebration served as a reminder of Ambedkar’s enduring impact on India’s socio-political landscape and the importance of upholding his ideals for a more equitable society. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
