Tripura’s Agriculture Minister, Ratan Lal Nath, has announced a significant milestone in the state’s agricultural sector, claiming that farmers’ monthly income has doubled over the past seven years. Speaking at an official event in Takarjala, Sepahijala district, Nath highlighted the transformative impact of the BJP-led government’s initiatives since coming to power in 2018.
According to Nath, the average monthly income of farmers in Tripura has risen from ₹6,580 in 2018 to ₹13,590 in 2025. He attributed this achievement to the government’s focus on farmer welfare, technological advancements, and strategic policies aimed at boosting agricultural productivity. Nath emphasized that 30 out of the state’s 58 blocks have become self-sufficient in food production, with Tripura emerging as a leading producer of rice seeds in the northeastern region.
The minister also outlined plans to further enhance agricultural output, including efforts to achieve self-sufficiency in potato production by 2028-29. Under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), the state government has been providing farmers with access to modern technology and resources to increase productivity.
Nath reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting farmers, describing them as “Annadata” and emphasizing their crucial role in the state’s growth and development. He assured that initiatives such as Minimum Support Price (MSP) procurement and advanced training programs would continue to benefit the farming community.
This announcement underscores the progress made in Tripura’s agricultural sector and the government’s dedication to improving the livelihoods of farmers. Stay tuned for further updates on the state’s agricultural advancements.
