In a major boost to Tripura’s healthcare sector, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has announced the recruitment of 432 nursing staff, including 100 on a contractual basis, to enhance medical services across the state.
Strengthening Healthcare Infrastructure
Speaking at an event on International Nurses Day in Agartala, CM Saha emphasized the critical role of nurses in patient care and the need to increase manpower in hospitals. He revealed that 153 nursing staff were recruited in 2024, and the government has now initiated the process to hire 332 more nurses, with financial approval for an additional 100 contractual positions.
Upgrading Nursing Education in Tripura
The Chief Minister also highlighted significant advancements in nursing education, including the upgradation of the Nursing Training Institute to Agartala Government Nursing College. The state now offers B.Sc Nursing, BDS, and MBBS courses, ensuring that aspiring healthcare professionals have access to quality education within Tripura.
Additionally, the 40-seat ANM Nursing Institute in Udaipur has been upgraded to GNM, further expanding opportunities for nursing students.

CM Saha reiterated the importance of nurses in delivering primary care, administering medications, and ensuring patient well-being. He stressed that Tripura’s healthcare system is undergoing continuous improvements, with efforts to align nurse deployment with patient needs.
