Tripura’s tea garden workers are benefiting from a comprehensive welfare initiative, as the state government, led by Minister Ratan Lal Nath, provides land rights, housing, and essential rations under the Mukhyamantri Cha Shramik Kalyan Prakalp.
Government’s Commitment to Tea Workers’ Welfare
Minister Ratan Lal Nath emphasized that land ownership is the biggest right, ensuring tea workers have a secure place to live. The scheme also includes:
- Drinking water supply
- Power connections
- Sanitation facilities
- Housing under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana
Additionally, the government has introduced ration shop availability for Tripura tea at subsidized rates, making quality tea more accessible to the public.
Economic Boost for Tripura’s Tea Industry
Tripura ranks sixth in India in tea production, and the Tripura Tea Development Corporation (TTDC) is working to strengthen the state’s economy through increased tea output. The government has also initiated efforts to set up a tea auction center and create a distinct brand identity for Tripura tea under the name ‘Tripureshwari’.
Future Outlook for Tea Workers
