Virat Kohli marked a significant milestone in his illustrious cricket career, playing his 300th One Day International (ODI) match. His wife, Anushka Sharma, and elder brother, Vikas Kohli, were present in Dubai on Sunday to witness this historic occasion as India faced New Zealand in the final group stage match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Kohli has become the seventh Indian cricketer to achieve the milestone of 300 ODI appearances, further cementing his legacy in the sport. Despite facing criticism for his form across formats leading up to the Champions Trophy, Kohli silenced his detractors with a memorable performance.
In India’s Champions Trophy opening match against Bangladesh, Kohli scored 22 runs off 38 balls. However, he rediscovered his form in a crucial match against Pakistan in Dubai, reminiscent of his spectacular performance against Pakistan during the T20 World Cup 2022 in Melbourne. Kohli’s clean shot secured victory for India, celebrating his 51st ODI century and becoming the fastest player to reach 14,000 ODI runs.
Kohli’s 300th ODI appearance, however, did not add much to his scoring tally. A slash outside off to a Matt Henry delivery resulted in a remarkable one-handed catch by Glenn Phillips, limiting Kohli to just 11 runs in the match.
In his 300 ODI appearances, Kohli has accumulated 14,096 runs with an impressive average of 58.01 and a strike rate of 93.40. His record includes 51 centuries and 73 fifties, with his highest score being 193. Throughout his career, Kohli has consistently broken records, becoming the fastest to reach several milestones, including 8,000, 9,000, 10,000, 11,000, 12,000, 13,000, and 14,000 runs in ODI cricket.
