India’s Billionaire Count Reaches 205 in 2025, Mukesh Ambani Leads Among Indians

India’s billionaire count has risen to 205 in 2025, up from 200 last year, according to Forbes’ World’s Billionaires List 2025. Despite the increase in numbers, the collective wealth of Indian billionaires has declined to USD 941 billion from USD 954 billion in 2024, primarily due to fluctuations in stock market valuations.

Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries, remains India’s richest individual with a net worth of USD 92.5 billion. However, his global ranking has dropped from 9th to 18th place, reflecting a significant decrease from his previous net worth of USD 116 billion. Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, is the second-richest Indian with a net worth of USD 56.3 billion, placing him 28th globally.

Other prominent names in the top 10 richest Indians include Savitri Jindal & family (USD 35.5 billion), Shiv Nadar (USD 34.5 billion), and Dilip Shanghvi (USD 24.9 billion). The rankings highlight the impact of market volatility on the fortunes of India’s wealthiest individuals.

India continues to hold its position as the third-largest country in terms of the number of billionaires, following the United States and China. The report underscores the resilience of India’s entrepreneurial ecosystem despite global economic challenges.
