National Award-winning actress Priyamani, known for her work across multiple film industries, has shed light on the stark contrast in shooting schedules between Bollywood and South Indian cinema.
In a recent interview, Priyamani revealed that South Indian film sets are strict about punctuality, ensuring that work begins exactly as scheduled. “If the call time is 8:00 AM, we start rolling at 8:00. Everyone is on set by 6:30 or 6:45, hair and makeup is done, and we’re ready to go. You don’t waste time—it’s all very disciplined,” she explained.
Bollywood’s More Relaxed Approach
Comparing her experience in Bollywood, Priyamani noted that the industry operates at a more flexible pace. “Here, if the call time says 8:00, that’s when people start arriving on location. Initially, it was a shock to me. I’d be ready by 6:30, only to be told, ‘Madam, people get here at 8:00. No need to come so early.’”
Despite the cultural shift, Priyamani has adapted to both working styles. “I had to learn the hard way, but now I’m used to both. Even now, if the call time is 8:00 AM, I’ll reach by 7:30 or 7:45,” she added.
A Versatile Career Across Industries
Priyamani has successfully transitioned between South Indian cinema and Bollywood, starring in acclaimed films such as Paruthiveeran, Thirakkatha, Chaarulatha, and Bollywood hits like Jawan and The Family Man. Her ability to navigate different filmmaking cultures has made her one of the most sought-after actresses in India.
