Tripura Transfers ₹79.88 Crore to Flood-Hit Farmers, Aims for Full Food Self-Sufficiency

The Tripura government has disbursed ₹79.88 crore in direct financial assistance to over 2.13 lakh farmers affected by the August 2024 floods, reinforcing its commitment to agricultural recovery and food self-sufficiency.

Government’s Initiative

  • The relief package was announced by Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath, who emphasized the state’s goal of achieving full food grain self-sufficiency within the next three to four years.
  • Out of Tripura’s 58 development blocks, 30 are already self-sufficient in food production, while efforts are underway to improve the remaining 28 blocks.
