Union Home Minister Amit Shah concluded his three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, focusing on security measures and developmental projects in the region. During his stay, Shah chaired high-level meetings at the Raj Bhawan in Srinagar, attended by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, and senior officials from the Union Home Ministry, Indian Army, and Jammu and Kashmir administration.
The security review meeting addressed the prevailing law and order situation, with Shah emphasizing the need for stringent protocols to ensure zero infiltration and a terror-free Jammu and Kashmir. He also assessed preparations for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, scheduled to begin on July 3, and directed agencies to adopt a zero-tolerance approach towards terrorism.
In addition to security discussions, Shah chaired a development review meeting, highlighting key infrastructure projects, including water supply initiatives, highway expansions, and tunnel constructions such as the strategic Zojila-Leh tunnel. He praised the efforts of security agencies in maintaining peace and urged them to step up vigilance.
Shah’s visit also marked a significant political shift, as three separatist organizations—Jammu Kashmir Islamic Political Party, Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Democratic League, and Kashmir Freedom Front—severed ties with the Hurriyat Conference. Shah hailed this development as a testament to the growing trust in the Indian Constitution among the people of the valley.
