Akshay Kumar Addresses Controversy Over Dialogue in ‘Kesari Chapter 2’ Trailer

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar recently found himself at the center of a controversy during the trailer launch of his upcoming film, Kesari Chapter 2. The actor, who portrays lawyer C. Sankaran Nair in the historical drama, was questioned about his use of the phrase “F**k you” in a courtroom scene featured in the trailer. The bold dialogue sparked mixed reactions, with some critics focusing on the explicit language.

During the event in New Delhi, Akshay Kumar responded emotionally to the criticism, explaining the context behind the choice of words. He stated, “Yes, I used that word. But did you not notice the phrase used in the trailer—‘You are still a slave’? Isn’t that a far greater insult? I believe being called a ‘slave’ is a bigger humiliation. Had we retaliated with bullets during such times, even that wouldn’t have been enough.” His heartfelt explanation highlighted the intensity of the scene and the historical significance of the dialogue.

The film, inspired by true events, delves into the aftermath of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre and the relentless pursuit of justice led by C. Sankaran Nair, a distinguished lawyer and former President of the Indian National Congress. The trailer showcases Kumar’s character taking a bold stand against the British Empire in a courtroom, confronting General Dyer over the tragic events of 1919.

Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, Kesari Chapter 2 also stars Ananya Panday as Dilreet Gill, a determined barrister aiding Nair in his mission, and R. Madhavan as Neville McKinley, a brilliant strategist. The film is set to release in theaters on April 18, 2025, and promises to be a powerful cinematic tribute to India’s fight for justice and independence.
