Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has issued a stern warning that the National Security Act (NSA) will be invoked against individuals found supporting Pakistan, either directly or indirectly, in connection with the Pahalgam terror attack. The attack, which claimed 26 lives in Jammu and Kashmir, has led to heightened security measures across the state.
Speaking at a press conference, CM Sarma emphasized the government’s zero-tolerance policy toward anti-national activities. “Assam will not tolerate any individual who defends or promotes Pakistan in relation to the heinous attack in Pahalgam. Strict action will be taken under the NSA,” he stated.
The Assam Police has already arrested 11 individuals, including AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam, for allegedly making pro-Pakistan remarks on social media. Islam was booked under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Samhita (BNS) and remanded to police custody. CM Sarma also urged citizens to report any suspicious activities or social media posts supporting Pakistan to local authorities.
The crackdown comes amid growing concerns over cross-border infiltration and national security. CM Sarma’s proactive measures reflect the state government’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability in Assam.
