Tamil cinema superstar and political figure Thalapathy Vijay has found himself at the center of a controversy following an Iftar event he hosted in Chennai. A police complaint has been filed by the Tamil Nadu Sunnat Jamath, alleging that the event disrespected the Muslim community and failed to uphold the sanctity of the religious occasion.
The complaint highlights the presence of individuals described as “drunkards and rowdies,” which the organization claims was inappropriate for an event meant to honor the significance of fasting and prayer. Additionally, concerns were raised about inadequate arrangements and alleged misconduct by security personnel, with attendees reportedly feeling disrespected.
Syed Kous, the treasurer of the Tamil Nadu Sunnat Jamath, expressed disappointment over the event’s organization, stating that it insulted the community. The organization has called for legal action against Vijay to prevent similar incidents in the future, emphasizing that their complaint is not for publicity but to uphold respect and dignity.
The Iftar event, held at the Royapettah YMCA grounds, saw Vijay actively participating in prayers and sharing a meal with attendees. Images and videos from the event quickly went viral on social media, sparking widespread discussions. As of now, Vijay has not publicly addressed the allegations.
This controversy comes at a pivotal time for Vijay, who is currently wrapping up his final film, “Jana Nayagan,” before transitioning into full-time politics. The actor’s silence on the matter has left fans and critics eagerly awaiting his response.
