Harsh Dubey Joins SRH as Injury Replacement, Eyes IPL 2025 Debut

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has signed Harsh Dubey, the Ranji Trophy record-breaker, as an injury replacement for Smaran Ravichandran, who was ruled out of IPL 2025 due to injury.

Who is Harsh Dubey?

Dubey, a 22-year-old left-arm spin-bowling allrounder, plays for Vidarbha in domestic cricket. He made headlines by scalping 69 wickets in the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy season, surpassing Ashutosh Aman’s record of 68 wickets from the 2018-19 season.

Despite his stellar red-ball performance, Dubey has had moderate returns in white-ball formats:

  • List A Cricket: 21 wickets from 20 innings at an average of 34.66.
  • T20 Cricket: 9 wickets from 16 innings with an economy rate of 6.78.

SRH’s Struggles & Dubey’s Role

SRH, last year’s IPL finalists, has had a disappointing season, winning only 3 out of 10 matches and sitting ninth on the points table. Even if they win their remaining matches, their net run rate (-1.192) makes playoff qualification highly unlikely.

Dubey joins SRH for ₹30 lakh, his base price at the last IPL auction. His inclusion comes at a time when SRH’s campaign is nearly over, but he could still make an impact in the remaining matches.

SRH’s next match is against Delhi Capitals (DC) on May 5, where Dubey might get his first IPL opportunity.
