Acclaimed actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui recently opened up about how his early life experiences as a science student and factory worker laid the foundation for his illustrious acting career. In a candid conversation, Siddiqui shared how his journey into the world of theatre began and the pivotal moments that shaped his craft.
Siddiqui revealed that his first exposure to acting came during his time as a science student, while also working in a chemical factory. A chance introduction to theatre inspired him to leave his job and pursue acting full-time. He began his journey with Gujarati plays, taking on small roles before transitioning to Hindi theatre. His training at the prestigious National School of Drama (NSD) in Delhi further honed his skills.
Reflecting on his theatre days, Siddiqui expressed gratitude for growing up in an era free from the distractions of the internet. He emphasized how the absence of modern technology allowed him to focus entirely on his craft. “We would practice theatre during our free time instead of being glued to our phones, which is something you don’t see today,” he remarked.
A turning point in his career came when renowned Russian theatre director Valentine Tapley visited NSD. Tapley’s unique casting process and method acting techniques left a lasting impact on Siddiqui, giving him his first serious role and refining his approach to performance.
On the professional front, Siddiqui is gearing up for several exciting projects, including the sequel to the thriller Raat Akeli Hai and an Indian adaptation of the popular American medical drama House. His journey from a science student to a celebrated actor serves as an inspiring testament to the power of passion and perseverance.
