Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Vantara Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre in Jamnagar, Gujarat, on March 4, 2025. This state-of-the-art facility, established by Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) and the Reliance Foundation, spans 3,000 acres and serves as a sanctuary for over 1.5 lakh rescued, endangered, and threatened animals from more than 2,000 species.
During his visit, PM Modi explored the centre’s advanced veterinary hospital, which is equipped with MRI, CT scans, ICUs, and specialized departments such as Wildlife Anesthesia, Cardiology, Nephrology, Endoscopy, and Internal Medicine. He interacted with various species, including Asiatic Lion cubs, a White Lion cub, a Clouded Leopard cub, and Caracal cubs, and witnessed medical treatments being provided to the animals.
PM Modi praised Anant Ambani, the driving force behind Vantara, for his compassionate efforts in wildlife conservation. In a post on X, the Prime Minister wrote, “Inaugurated Vantara, a unique wildlife conservation, rescue and rehabilitation initiative, which provides a safe haven for animals while promoting ecological sustainability and wildlife welfare. I commend Anant Ambani and his entire team for this very compassionate effort”.
Vantara aims to provide a natural and nurturing environment for its inhabitants, reflecting India’s long-standing commitment to protecting the planet’s creatures. The centre’s conservation initiatives include breeding programs for endangered species such as the Asiatic Lion, Snow Leopard, and One-Horned Rhinoceros.
The Prime Minister’s visit to Vantara highlights the importance of wildlife conservation and the need for continued efforts to protect and preserve the natural world.
