Pooja Chopra Shares Nostalgic Holi Memories of Water Balloons and Family Traditions

As the festival of colors approaches, actress Pooja Chopra takes a delightful trip down memory lane, reminiscing about her cherished Holi celebrations with family and friends. Known for her roles in films like Commando: A One Man Army and Fashion, Pooja shared her playful and heartwarming experiences that make Holi a special time for her.

Mischief and Water Balloons

Recalling her school days, Pooja revealed her mischievous side, sneaking water balloons into her tuition classes. “I’d sit through class pretending everything was normal, but the moment we stepped outside, I’d unleash my surprise attack on my friends. They’d go home drenched and return the next day, ready for revenge,” she laughed.

Holi Preparations and Traditions

Pooja also shared how she prepared for the festival by applying baby oil from head to toe to avoid stubborn color stains. “Every strand of hair, every crease of my ears, my earlobes, nail beds—even my elbows were covered in oil! Thankfully, today, people mostly use gulal and organic colors, so I just apply a thick moisturizer before stepping out,” she added.

Festive Delicacies

For Pooja, Holi is incomplete without indulging in her favorite treat—Puran Puri with ghee. She fondly recalled how her grandmother would prepare the dish after a day of playing with colors. “Nothing beats the taste of a hot puran paratha with ghee,” she said.

Holika Dahan and Community Spirit

Beyond the fun and games, Pooja cherishes the tradition of Holika Dahan, the symbolic bonfire ritual held on the eve of Holi. “Since childhood, it’s been about gathering for the puja, circling the bonfire, offering prayers, and receiving prasad. Even today, the essence remains the same—it’s a time for reflection, prayers, and reconnecting with the community while sharing sweets,” she shared.

Pooja Chopra’s nostalgic recollections highlight the joy, togetherness, and cultural richness of Holi, making it a festival that continues to bring people closer.
