Neeraj Chopra Classic Javelin Throw Event Set for May 24 in Panchkula

The inaugural edition of the Neeraj Chopra Classic, an elite international javelin throw competition, is scheduled to take place on May 24, 2025, at the Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Panchkula, Haryana. Named after India’s two-time Olympic medalist Neeraj Chopra, the event has been classified as a World Athletics ‘A’ category competition, equivalent to the prestigious Continental Tour Gold-level status.

This one-day event will feature top male and female javelin throwers from around the globe, marking the first time such elite athletes will compete in India. The competition is expected to serve as a crucial qualification event for the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, set to be held later this year.

Neeraj Chopra, who is not only headlining the event but also one of its principal organizers, expressed his excitement about bringing world-class javelin action to Indian soil. “It has been a longstanding dream of mine to organize and host a global javelin competition in India. I am thrilled to see this dream come to life and look forward to creating an unforgettable experience for athletes and fans alike,” Chopra stated.

The Neeraj Chopra Classic aims to elevate India’s stature in international athletics and is envisioned as an annual fixture in the global sporting calendar. Stay tuned for more updates on this landmark event and its impact on Indian sports.
