Mohsin Naqvi Appointed as New ACC Chairman

In a significant development for Asian cricket, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has been appointed as the new chairman of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). The decision was finalized during a virtual meeting of the ACC’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on April 4, 2025.

Naqvi succeeds Shammi Silva, the President of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), and will serve a two-year term as ACC chairman. Expressing his gratitude, Naqvi stated, “I am deeply honored to assume the presidency of the Asian Cricket Council. Asia remains the heartbeat of world cricket, and I am committed to working with all member boards to accelerate the game’s growth and global influence.”

Under Naqvi’s leadership, the ACC aims to focus on unity, innovation, and strategic growth, reinforcing Asia’s position as a global cricket hub. One of the immediate challenges for Naqvi will be organizing the Asia Cup 2025, which is scheduled for September. Due to diplomatic tensions between India and Pakistan, the tournament is expected to be held at a neutral venue.

Outgoing chairman Shammi Silva expressed confidence in Naqvi’s leadership, stating, “The steadfast commitment of our member boards working together has been pivotal in elevating ACC’s stature across the region. I am confident that under Mr. Naqvi’s capable leadership, the ACC will continue its remarkable journey and thrive.”

Naqvi’s appointment signals a renewed focus on collaboration and development within Asian cricket. Stay tuned for updates on his initiatives and the upcoming Asia Cup.
