Zaheer Khan Expresses Interest in Coaching Team India

Kolkata, April 7, 2025 – Former Indian pacer and 2011 World Cup hero Zaheer Khan has expressed his willingness to take up the role of head coach for the Indian cricket team if the opportunity arises. Currently serving as the mentor for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Zaheer shared his aspirations during an event in Kolkata ahead of LSG’s clash with Kolkata Knight Riders.

“It would be an honour to coach Team India,” said the 46-year-old, who has been a prominent figure in Indian cricket both on and off the field. Known for his exceptional leadership and cricketing acumen, Zaheer has previously worked as a bowling coach and Director of Cricket for the Mumbai Indians, contributing significantly to the development of players like Jasprit Bumrah.

Zaheer’s illustrious career includes 311 Test wickets and 282 ODI scalps, making him one of India’s most successful fast bowlers. His experience and insights have been instrumental in nurturing young talent in the IPL, and his potential appointment as India’s head coach could bring a wealth of expertise to the national team.
