Mitchell Starc Lauds India’s Depth of Cricketing Talent

Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc has heaped praise on the depth of talent in Indian cricket, calling it unparalleled in the world of sports. Speaking on the YouTube channel FanaticsTV, Starc highlighted India’s ability to field three competitive teams simultaneously across different formats—a feat he believes no other nation can achieve.

“I think they [India] are probably the only nation that can have a Test team, a one-day team, and a T20 team play on the same day against Australia in the Test, England in the one-dayer, and South Africa in the T20I; and India will be competitive,” Starc remarked. He emphasized that this depth is a testament to India’s robust cricketing infrastructure and the immense pool of talent available.

Starc also discussed the role of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in nurturing young talent. While acknowledging the IPL as the premier franchise tournament globally, he noted that Indian players are restricted to participating only in the IPL, unlike their international counterparts who gain exposure through multiple leagues worldwide. “The IPL helps; it’s a great tournament, but obviously, you have to have talent there, and the depth in Indian cricket is huge,” he added.

The Australian pacer, who is set to play for the Delhi Capitals in the upcoming IPL season, expressed excitement about joining the league and playing alongside Indian stars like KL Rahul, whom he referred to as India’s “Mr. Fix-It” for his versatility and reliability in crucial moments.

Starc’s comments come at a time when Indian cricket continues to dominate the global stage, with recent successes in both white-ball and red-ball formats. His admiration underscores the growing recognition of India’s cricketing prowess and its ability to produce world-class players consistently.
