Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi has made headlines with his recent comments about releasing 22 Indian fishermen. Speaking to reporters at the Dubai International Stadium ahead of the highly anticipated Champions Trophy 2025 clash between Pakistan and India, Naqvi confirmed the release of the fishermen and expressed hope for Pakistan’s performance in the upcoming match.
“From our side, we have released 22 Indian fishermen today,” Naqvi stated in a video that has since gone viral on social media. The release took place on February 22, Saturday, from Karachi’s Malir Jail. This move comes amidst ongoing efforts by India to secure the early release of prisoners from Pakistan, with 180 Indian fishermen still awaiting release despite completing their sentences.
The timing of Naqvi’s announcement has added to the tension and excitement surrounding the India-Pakistan clash in the Champions Trophy 2025. Pakistan, currently in a must-win situation, faces a crucial match against their arch-rivals in Dubai on Sunday.
