India has strongly condemned Pakistan at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) for its treatment of religious minorities, particularly Hindus and Christians. During the 58th session of the UNHRC in Geneva, India’s representative highlighted the severe persecution faced by these communities in Pakistan, including violence, harassment, forced conversions, and abductions.
The Indian delegation pointed out that Hindus and Christians, who together constitute just over 3% of Pakistan’s population, endure systemic discrimination and targeted attacks. Reports of young girls from these communities being abducted and forcibly married have drawn international concern. Additionally, places of worship, such as Hindu temples and Christian churches, are frequently vandalized or destroyed.
India’s representative also criticized the global silence on these issues, calling for greater accountability and action. The statement emphasized the need for Pakistan to uphold its commitments to human rights and protect its minority populations.
This intervention underscores India’s ongoing efforts to draw attention to the plight of persecuted minorities in the region and advocate for their rights on the global stage. The issue remains a focal point in India’s diplomatic engagements at international forums.
