Tripura CM Lays Foundation Stone for New Hospital in Agartala

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has taken a significant step toward enhancing healthcare infrastructure in the state by laying the foundation stone for a new 50-bed hospital in Agartala. The hospital, located adjacent to Jackson Gate, is set to be managed by the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) and is expected to become operational within six months.

The facility will feature outpatient departments (OPDs) for various medical specialties, a minor operation theatre, and modern amenities such as a lift. CM Saha emphasized that the hospital’s strategic location in the heart of Agartala will ensure easy access for residents, local businesses, and visitors to the city. He added that the new hospital will help reduce the patient load on the existing GBP Hospital and IGM Hospital, providing much-needed relief to the city’s healthcare system.

In addition to the hospital, the government has planned a night shelter for patients and their families traveling from rural areas. This shelter will offer lodging and food at subsidized rates, ensuring better support for those accompanying patients. CM Saha also highlighted other welfare initiatives, such as the mid-day meal program at GBP Hospital, which provides meals at a nominal cost of ₹10 per plate.

The foundation stone-laying ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumdar, Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, and officials from the Agartala Smart City Mission. CM Saha reiterated the government’s commitment to prioritizing healthcare services and improving public health systems in Tripura.
