‘Real Film Yet to Begin’: Nitin Gadkari Hints at Bigger Role Ahead of 2029 General Elections

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has sparked political speculation with a cinematic metaphor about his future, stating that the past 11 years under the Narendra Modi government were merely a “newsreel” and that the “real film is yet to begin.” The remark came during an interview marking the BJP-led government’s 11-year milestone, fueling curiosity about Gadkari’s potential role in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections.

“Abhi tak jo hua hain woh to newsreel thi. Asli film shuru hona aur baaki hain,” Gadkari said, reflecting on his journey and hinting at what lies ahead.

🏛️ Party Loyalty and Future Aspirations

While Gadkari’s statement stirred buzz, he was quick to clarify that the BJP decides the responsibilities of its leaders.

“I will carry out whatever responsibility is given to me,” he emphasized, reiterating his commitment to party discipline.

🌾 Focus on Agriculture and Social Work

Gadkari revealed a shift in his personal priorities, stating that he now devotes more time to agriculture and social initiatives, particularly in his home region of Vidarbha, where he aims to combat farmer suicides.

“Nowadays, I work more on agriculture and other social initiatives rather than road works,” he noted.

📈 On India’s Economic Challenges

The senior BJP leader also addressed concerns about India’s per capita income, attributing its stagnation to population growth. He voiced support for a population control bill, calling it an economic—not religious—issue.

“Despite so much development, the fruits are not visible. The reason is the increasing population,” he said.

🔍 Political Clean Image

Gadkari underscored his non-populist approach, stating he has never published his political résumé or encouraged grand welcomes at airports. His remarks come amid growing speculation about a reshuffle in BJP’s leadership roles ahead of 2029.
