Atishi Announces Regularization of 12,000 Temporary Employees by MCD Government

Delhi Assembly Leader of Opposition and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi has announced that 12,000 temporary employees will be regularized during the upcoming Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) House meeting on February 25. This decision marks a significant move by the AAP-led MCD government to fulfill its commitment to regularizing temporary workers.

In a press conference, Atishi emphasized the party’s dedication to providing job security and stability to temporary employees. “AAP is committed to regularizing temporary employees. Under this, contract teachers in Punjab are being regularized, and today, the party’s MCD government is making a very important decision, and I am very happy to announce it,” she stated.

Atishi highlighted that the AAP-led MCD government has already regularized 4,500 temporary workers. The upcoming decision to regularize 12,000 temporary workers will be the largest such move in MCD’s history. The employees to be regularized include sanitation workers, gardeners, laborers, teachers, Assistant Engineers (AEs) and Junior Engineers (JEs) in the engineering department, and malaria checkers.

“No government has ever regularized 12,000 workers in a single move before,” Atishi pointed out, underscoring the historic nature of the decision. She further noted that this move aligns with AAP’s commitment to regularizing temporary workers, a promise made when the party came to power.

The announcement has been met with positive reactions from temporary workers, who see it as a step towards job security and stability. As the MCD House meeting approaches, the focus remains on the implementation of this significant decision and its impact on the lives of the employees involved.
