Agartala: The Border Security Force (BSF) in Tripura has apprehended 29 Bangladeshi nationals during a series of operations conducted between March 6 and March 10, 2025. The arrests were made at various locations along the India-Bangladesh border, including Lankamura, Nischintpur, Harinakhola, Agartala railway station, Churaibari railway station, Sabroom, and L.K. Para.
In addition to the Bangladeshi nationals, seven Indian citizens, including a suspected human trafficker, were also detained. The BSF has intensified its surveillance and intelligence operations along the international border to curb illegal activities such as smuggling and human trafficking.
During the same period, BSF personnel thwarted multiple smuggling attempts, seizing narcotics, cattle, rice, and other contraband items worth ₹2.88 crore. Among the confiscated items was 280.67 kilograms of cannabis. The BSF also conducted 61 coordinated patrols and organized nine village coordination meetings to address the concerns of local residents in border areas.
The BSF’s proactive measures underscore its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the nation while maintaining vigilance along the sensitive border regions. Further investigations are underway to determine the motives and networks involved in these cross-border activities.
