In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Tripura Police seized 1.1 lakh Yaba tablets worth ₹5.5 crore during a raid at a hotel in Agartala. Acting on a tip-off, the operation was conducted on Friday night at Woodland Park Hotel, leading to the arrest of three individuals suspected of being involved in the smuggling network.
The banned Yaba tablets, often referred to as “crazy drug,” contain a mixture of methamphetamine and caffeine. The contraband was discovered in a trolley bag containing 11 yellow plastic packets, each holding 10,000 tablets. The suspects, identified as Sadul Hussain Talukdar from Assam, Nayan Mani NamaSudhra from Khowai, and Biswajit Biswas from Dhalai, were taken into custody for interrogation.
West Tripura Superintendent of Police Kiran Kumar described the raid as one of the largest operations in recent months. “The estimated market value of the seized narcotics is ₹5.5 crore. We have registered a case under the NDPS Act and will seek remand for further interrogation to uncover the network’s operations,” he stated.
This successful operation underscores the police’s commitment to combating drug trafficking in the region. Authorities are now investigating links to the broader smuggling network, with the arrested individuals facing legal proceedings under the NDPS Act.
