Mumbai: The latest episode of Shark Tank India 4 featured a compelling pitch by Bindiya, a third-generation entrepreneur aiming to revolutionize the tile industry with her online platform, Tileskraft. Seeking ₹60 lakh for a 12% equity stake, Bindiya presented her vision of simplifying tile sourcing and sampling through technology. However, her pitch faced challenges as the Sharks raised concerns about the scalability and uniqueness of her business model.
Anupam Mittal, founder of Shaadi.com, was particularly impressed by Bindiya’s dedication and courage as a woman entrepreneur in a male-dominated industry. Despite his admiration, Mittal ultimately decided to opt out of the deal, offering words of wisdom instead. He asked Bindiya, “Aap Bhagwan pe bharosa karte ho? (Do you believe in God?)” and added, “Vishwas yeh rakhna ki kabhi kabhi aap jo chahte ho woh na ho toh better ho. (Believe that sometimes, not getting what you want is actually better).”
Mittal emphasized the importance of refining her business model and gaining more experience before involving investors. He cautioned that rushing into fundraising could hinder both her learning and earning potential. Other Sharks, including Peyush Bansal and Vineeta Singh, echoed similar sentiments, advising Bindiya to focus on organic growth.
Although Bindiya left without securing a deal, her journey as a woman entrepreneur in a traditionally male-dominated field earned her respect and encouragement from the Sharks. Her pitch highlighted the potential for innovation in the tile industry, suggesting that with further refinement, her business could achieve success in the future.
This heartfelt moment on Shark Tank India 4 has resonated with viewers, showcasing the Sharks’ commitment to nurturing entrepreneurial talent while offering valuable guidance.
