In a high-level meeting aimed at tackling pollution, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta outlined an ambitious roadmap to transform the national capital into a clean, green, and healthy city. The meeting, held on March 13, 2025, brought together key stakeholders, including Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, senior officials from the Public Works Department (PWD), Delhi Police, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), and civic bodies.
During the meeting, CM Gupta emphasized the urgency of accelerating pollution-control measures and directed all departments to implement concrete and effective strategies. “We are dedicated to creating a clean, green, and healthy capital with the support of Delhi’s residents,” Gupta stated in a post on social media.
Key Initiatives Announced:
- Year-Round Deployment of Anti-Smog Guns and Sprinklers: To combat dust pollution, anti-smog guns and sprinklers will be operational throughout the year, except during the monsoon season.
- Enhanced Vehicle Emission Monitoring: Enforcement teams at Delhi’s borders will be increased to monitor vehicle emissions, with digital display boards installed to raise public awareness.
- Road Maintenance and Cleanliness: All road-owning agencies, including the PWD, DDA, and Municipal Corporation of Delhi, have been instructed to submit weekly reports on road repair and cleanliness to control dust pollution.
- Green Space Expansion: The government plans to collaborate with stakeholders to expand green areas across the city, contributing to improved air quality.
The Chief Minister also stressed the importance of strict monitoring and swift action against violations, directing officials to present a comprehensive action plan within a week. Gupta reiterated her government’s commitment to safeguarding Delhi’s residents from air pollution and improving the city’s livability.
These measures are part of the Delhi government’s broader vision under the “Viksit Delhi Sankalp Patra” (Developed Delhi Resolution), which aims to address environmental challenges and enhance the quality of life for its citizens. As the city grapples with pollution, these initiatives mark a significant step toward a cleaner and greener future.
