Renowned yoga guru and Ayurveda proponent Baba Ramdev has brought attention to an ancient Ayurvedic remedy for piles, emphasizing the benefits of chewing Nagdon leaves, also known as Common Wormwood (Artemisia absinthium). This plant, celebrated for its medicinal properties, is being hailed as a natural solution for managing piles, fissures, and fistulas.
During a recent public address, Baba Ramdev explained that chewing three washed Nagdon leaves on an empty stomach daily can significantly alleviate the symptoms of piles. While the taste of the leaves is notably bitter, Ramdev assured that the results are worth the effort. He also recommended complementary Ayurvedic treatments, such as Divya Triphala Churna and Divya Abhayarishta, to enhance the healing process.
In addition to this remedy, Ramdev advised incorporating dietary changes to prevent constipation, a common trigger for piles. He suggested consuming green leafy vegetables, particularly bottle gourd (lauki) juice, and avoiding spicy foods. He also highlighted the benefits of acupressure techniques, such as massaging specific points near the wrist, to ease pain associated with piles.
Nagdon, traditionally used in brewing and medicine, is known for its antifungal, antimicrobial, and neuroprotective properties. Beyond piles treatment, the plant is believed to aid digestion, enhance appetite, and address other health concerns like Crohn’s disease and IgA nephropathy.
As modern medicine increasingly explores the potential of traditional remedies, Baba Ramdev’s advocacy for Nagdon leaves underscores the enduring relevance of Ayurveda in addressing common health issues. However, individuals are advised to consult healthcare professionals before adopting any new treatment.
