Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Launches 263 Projects Worth ₹820 Crore in Nalanda During ‘Pragati Yatra’

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, during his ongoing Pragati Yatra, inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 263 development projects in his home district Nalanda on Thursday, February 20. The Hindu reported that these projects, aimed at improving infrastructure and public welfare, amount to ₹820.72 crores.

Of the total, 177 projects worth ₹361.66 crores were officially inaugurated, while the foundation stone was laid for 86 new initiatives totaling ₹459.05 crores. Following the event, the Chief Minister held a review meeting at Shaheed Hardev Bhawan in Biharsharif, where he assessed the progress of developmental schemes in the district.

Transforming Bihar Since 2005

Addressing officials, Kumar emphasized Bihar’s transformation since 2005. “Today, I have visited many places and seen the development works. We will tell the officials to ensure further action. Our aim is to make Bihar progress in every sector. Remember the development work I have done in Bihar after 2005,” he stated.

Reflecting on his tenure, Kumar acknowledged former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for making him Chief Minister and credited his leadership for Bihar’s journey towards development. He recalled the lawlessness and communal tensions that plagued the state before 2005. “You all are aware of the condition of Bihar before 2005. People were afraid to step out of their homes after dusk. There were frequent fights between Hindus and Muslims, which we ended. There was no arrangement for treatment in hospitals, and roads were dilapidated. The condition of education was not good. When the people of Bihar gave us a chance to work, the condition of Bihar has changed,” he added.

Creating an Atmosphere of Peace and Development

Kumar highlighted that developmental work had been carried out in every field and that the atmosphere of fear and terror had ended in Bihar. “An atmosphere of peace and brotherhood prevails. Earlier, the condition of electricity in Bihar was very pathetic. There was hardly any electricity in rural areas,” he said.

The Chief Minister’s Pragati Yatra underscores his commitment to transforming Bihar and improving the quality of life for its residents through sustained development and infrastructure projects.
