Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha recently met Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in New Delhi to advocate for the introduction of a Vande Bharat Express between Agartala and Guwahati. The proposed train service aims to enhance connectivity and boost economic growth between the two regions.
Railway Development Discussions
During the meeting at Rail Bhawan, Saha discussed various railway development projects for the northeastern state. He shared details of the meeting in a Facebook post, stating, “Met Union Minister of Railways and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw ji at Rail Bhawan, New Delhi. In the meeting, we discussed on various topics of development like the running of the Vande Bharat Train, inter-city train between Agartala-Guwahati, local train between Dharmanagar-Sabroom, laying new track between Jirania-Bodhjungnagar (industrial estate) and Dharmanagar-Kailashar and Kishan Rail between Agartala-Guwahati.”
The chief minister emphasized the need for improved railway infrastructure to support economic and industrial growth in Tripura and highlighted Guwahati as a crucial hub for such development.
Educational Development Initiatives
In addition to railway projects, Saha also met Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to discuss educational advancements in Tripura. The discussions focused on the development of Vidya Jyoti Schools, the upgradation of Women’s College into a Women’s University, and the conversion of Tripura Institute of Technology into a Technical University.
These efforts are part of the state government’s broader strategy to enhance both infrastructure and educational opportunities, contributing to the overall development of Tripura.
