Describing Chile as an “important friend and partner” in Latin America, PM Modi emphasized the strategic significance of the partnership. He highlighted Chile’s role as a gateway to Antarctica and announced collaborative efforts in areas such as critical minerals, digital public infrastructure, and healthcare security. The leaders also discussed the development of a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement to strengthen economic ties.
President Boric, on his first visit to India, expressed optimism about the growing relationship between the two nations. He acknowledged the shared values and cultural connections between India and Chile, drawing parallels between the Himalayas and the Andes as symbols of unity. The Chilean President also paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat, reflecting on the enduring legacy of peace and non-violence.
The talks resulted in several key agreements, including initiatives to promote student exchange programs, simplify visa processes, and enhance cooperation in Ayurveda and traditional medicine. The declaration of November 4 as National Yoga Day in Chile was celebrated as a milestone in cultural collaboration.
As part of his visit, President Boric is scheduled to meet Indian President Droupadi Murmu and engage with industry leaders in Mumbai and Bengaluru. The state visit underscores the commitment of both nations to deepen their partnership and address global challenges through multilateral cooperation.
