Google has introduced a significant update for its Gemini AI, allowing iPhone users to access the chatbot directly from their lock screens. This new feature, part of the latest Gemini app update, enhances user convenience by offering six customizable widgets that enable quick interactions without unlocking the device.
The widgets include options such as “Type Prompt” for entering quick queries, “Talk Live” for real-time conversations, and “Open Mic” for hands-free interactions like setting reminders or scheduling meetings. Additionally, visual tools like “Use Camera” and “Share Image” allow users to capture photos or upload media for analysis, while the “Share File” widget supports file-based queries.
Users can replace default lock screen buttons, such as the flashlight and camera, with Gemini widgets for faster access. The widgets can also be added to the Control Center for seamless integration with iOS. This update positions Gemini as a competitive alternative to Apple’s Siri, which is reportedly undergoing a delayed revamp.
The new lock screen widgets aim to streamline user interactions with Gemini, making it easier to perform tasks like composing emails, identifying objects, or engaging in creative projects. This development underscores Google’s commitment to enhancing AI accessibility and functionality for iPhone users.
