Apple has rolled out a new feature in its iOS 18.4 beta 2 update, bringing AI-powered review summaries to the App Store. This innovative addition, part of Apple’s “Apple Intelligence” suite, aims to simplify the app review process for users by providing concise summaries of user feedback.
The review summaries leverage advanced large language models (LLMs) to analyze and condense user reviews into a short paragraph. Positioned above the user reviews section on app listings, these summaries highlight key themes and insights, enabling users to quickly assess an app’s quality and functionality without scrolling through numerous individual reviews.
Apple has confirmed that the summaries will be refreshed weekly to incorporate the latest feedback. However, the feature is currently limited to apps and games with a sufficient number of reviews, although the exact threshold remains undisclosed. Initially available in English for users in the United States, Apple plans to expand the feature to additional languages and regions over the coming year.
This update also introduces natural language search capabilities to the App Store, allowing users to search for apps based on descriptions, features, or functionalities. Both features are part of Apple’s broader efforts to enhance user experience through AI-driven solutions.
The iOS 18.4 beta 2 update is expected to roll out globally in April, offering users a glimpse into the future of app discovery and review analysis. This development underscores Apple’s commitment to integrating cutting-edge AI technologies into its ecosystem.
