Groom Diagnosed with Stage 4 Bowel Cancer Weeks After Wedding

In a heartbreaking turn of events, Ashley Robinson, a 35-year-old chef from Hertfordshire, England, was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer just weeks after his wedding. Initially, his symptoms, including severe stomach pain and blood in his stool, were dismissed by doctors as stress related to wedding preparations.

Ashley, who was working over 60 hours a week while planning his wedding, was reassured by medical professionals that his condition was not serious. Following their advice, he focused on his nuptials and tied the knot with his wife, Jasmin, at Pendley Manor on July 20, 2024. However, his health deteriorated rapidly after the ceremony, leading to significant weight loss and worsening symptoms.

After persistent efforts by his wife, Ashley underwent a colonoscopy, which revealed a tumor the size of an orange in his colon. A biopsy confirmed the devastating diagnosis of stage 4 bowel cancer, which had already spread to his liver. The news left the newlyweds shattered.

Ashley immediately began immunotherapy treatment, which has shown remarkable results, with his tumor shrinking by 90%. Despite the positive response, he expressed frustration over the initial misdiagnosis, believing that earlier detection could have prevented the cancer from spreading.

Healthcare officials have since emphasized the importance of advocating for one’s health and seeking second opinions if symptoms persist. Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust has apologized for Ashley’s experience and encouraged him to discuss his concerns directly.

Ashley continues to receive treatment and remains hopeful for further recovery, serving as a poignant reminder of the importance of early diagnosis and proactive healthcare.
