Prof Deb, who also serves as the in-charge principal of Cachar College, joined G C College in 1992 and has been its principal since 2015. Under his leadership, G C College achieved an ‘A’ grade accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), solidifying its reputation as a premier educational institution.
The Assam government had previously announced plans to upgrade G C College into a state university, with the requisite notification already issued. However, the process of transitioning the college into a university is yet to commence.
