BJP national president J P Nadda visited Tripura on Sunday to participate in the second anniversary celebrations of the BJP-led government in the state. During his visit, Nadda held a crucial meeting with Chief Minister Manik Saha, state president Rajib Bhattacharjee, and other senior party leaders to discuss the election of the next state BJP president and alliances with Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) and TIPRA Motha Party (TMP).
Key Discussions and Meeting Highlights
The meeting, held at the state guest house in Agartala, was attended by prominent leaders, including former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, Northeast in-charge Sambit Patra, and Tripura BJP’s central observer Rajdeep Roy. While specific details of the discussions remain undisclosed, sources suggest that the focus was on strengthening the party’s leadership and alliances in the state.
Public Address and Temple Visit
Nadda addressed a large gathering at Swami Vivekananda Stadium in Agartala, urging the people of Tripura to continue supporting the BJP in future elections. He emphasized the progress made under BJP’s leadership, contrasting it with the “dark days” of previous Left Front and Congress rule.
As part of his visit, Nadda also paid homage at the Tripura Sundari Temple in Udaipur, Gomati district. The temple, one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, has been redeveloped under the Union Ministry of Tourism’s PRASHAD scheme with an investment of over ₹52 crore.
Launch of Welfare Schemes
Nadda unveiled two significant state government schemes aimed at empowering women:
- Mukhyamantri Balika Samriddhi Yojana: A ₹50,000 bond will be provided to girl children from below-poverty-line families, maturing into ₹8-10 lakh upon reaching 18 years of age.
- Mukhyamantri Kanya Atmanirbhar Yojana: Two-wheelers will be awarded to 140 meritorious girls who achieve top grades in board examinations.
A Call for Continued Support
Highlighting the BJP’s achievements in Tripura, Nadda stated that the party’s policies are not just on paper but actively benefit the people. He expressed gratitude for the public’s trust and reiterated the BJP’s commitment to grassroots development and women’s empowerment.
Nadda’s visit underscores the BJP’s focus on consolidating its position in Tripura while addressing key issues and launching initiatives to uplift the state’s citizens.
