Kartik Aaryan Playfully Mocks Karan Johar Over Dharma Productions Stake Sale

Actor Kartik Aaryan and filmmaker Karan Johar stole the spotlight at the IIFA Awards 2025 with their witty banter, which has since gone viral on social media. During the event, Kartik took a playful dig at Karan regarding the recent sale of a 50% stake in Dharma Productions to Adar Poonawalla, CEO of the Serum Institute of India.

In a lighthearted exchange, Kartik approached Karan with a request to make him a partner in Dharma Productions. Karan, known for his quick wit, jokingly offered Kartik roles such as “kapde waala” (clothes person), “joote waala” (cobbler), and “makeup waala” (cosmetic handler). Kartik, not missing a beat, quipped, “Poonawalla? Voh nahi bola aapne” (You didn’t say Poonawalla?).

Karan responded with humor, saying, “Suno, unka adar se naam lo, 50 per cent stake hai unka” (Take his name with respect. He has a 50% stake). Kartik cheekily replied, “Maine 51 per cent suna tha” (I heard it was 51%).

The exchange comes months after Adar Poonawalla acquired a 50% stake in Dharma Productions in October 2024, with Karan retaining the remaining half. Speaking about the deal previously, Karan had described it as a “great marriage of two minds,” aimed at elevating Dharma’s legacy to new heights.

The playful interaction between Kartik and Karan has left fans entertained, showcasing their camaraderie and sense of humor. The viral moment has added to the buzz surrounding the IIFA Awards 2025, making it one of the most talked-about events of the year.
