Joint Operations in Manipur: Indian Army Recovers 117 Weapons, IEDs, and Ammunition

In a massive crackdown on insurgent activities, the Indian Army, in collaboration with Assam Rifles, Manipur Police, CRPF, BSF, and ITBP, successfully recovered 117 weapons, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), grenades, ammunition, and other war-like stores during a series of operations across Manipur.

Coordinated Efforts Across Districts

The operations, conducted over the past 72 hours, targeted insurgent hideouts in both hill and valley districts, including Bishnupur, Senapati, Thoubal, Jiribam, Chandel, Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, Imphal East, and Imphal West.

Key Recoveries by Region

  • Senapati District: Intelligence-led operations in Taphou Kuki village resulted in the recovery of four weapons, including bolt-action and double-barrel guns.
  • Bishnupur District: Seven weapons, including carbines, pistols, rifles, and an improvised mortar, were seized in Nepali Basti, alongside ammunition.
  • Chandel District: A major haul of 55 weapons, 32 improvised mortars, IEDs, and grenades was discovered during a search operation.
  • Churachandpur District: Security forces recovered 15 weapons in the Gothol area.
  • Jiribam District: Nine improvised mortars were found in Ankhasu village.
  • Kangpokpi District: Four weapons and 12 bunkers were destroyed in a flash raid in Khengang village.
  • Thoubal District: Eight weapons and ammunition were recovered in Langmeithek Yerum Ching and Langathel.
  • Imphal West District: Operations in Moidangpok Khullen led to the recovery of six weapons.

Commitment to Security

The Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South) highlighted that these operations showcase the coordinated efforts of multiple security agencies in restoring peace and security in Manipur. The swift actions underline the determination to curb insurgent activities and ensure stability in the region.

As joint operations continue, the recoveries mark a significant step toward neutralizing the threats posed by insurgent groups and maintaining law and order across the state.
