India’s javelin sensation and double Olympic medallist, Neeraj Chopra, is set to commence his 2025 season at the prestigious Doha Diamond League on May 16. The event, hosted at the Qatar Sports Club, marks Chopra’s third consecutive appearance at this venue, where he previously clinched victory in 2023 with a world-leading throw of 88.67m.
Chopra, who secured gold at the Tokyo Olympics and silver at the 2024 Paris Games, expressed his excitement about competing in front of the passionate crowd in Doha. “The energy and support from Indian fans in Qatar are always overwhelming. It truly brings out the best in me,” said the 27-year-old athlete, now training under Czech legend Jan Železný, the world record holder in javelin.
Reflecting on his journey, Chopra emphasized the importance of consistency over chasing records. “Last year taught me valuable lessons, and I’m proud to have represented India on the podium once again. This season, I’m focused on maintaining my form and delivering strong performances,” he added.
The Doha Diamond League is part of the elite Wanda Diamond League series, featuring 15 top-tier global athletics events. Following his season opener, Chopra is scheduled to compete at the ‘Neeraj Chopra Classic’ javelin event in Panchkula on May 24, further solidifying his commitment to excellence in the sport.
With his rigorous training and unwavering determination, Neeraj Chopra continues to inspire millions as he aims for new milestones in the upcoming season.
