Mithun Chakraborty Appeals to Non-Voting Hindus in West Bengal to Support BJP

Kolkata, April 7, 2025 – Actor-turned-politician Mithun Chakraborty has made a passionate appeal to non-voting Hindus in West Bengal, urging them to back the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming 2026 Assembly elections. Speaking at a BJP meeting in North Barrackpore, Chakraborty emphasized the importance of active participation in the electoral process to safeguard the community’s future.

Chakraborty highlighted that approximately 9% of Hindus in the state do not vote, and he called on them to take pride in their Sanatani identity and exercise their democratic rights. “This is the fight for our existence,” he stated, drawing parallels to the situation in neighboring Bangladesh, where he claimed Hindus face challenges to their survival.

The veteran actor also expressed concerns about alleged meetings among opposition leaders, hinting at discussions that could impact the state’s Hindu population. His remarks come amid heightened political tensions in West Bengal, with incidents of violence and communal unrest reported in recent weeks.

Chakraborty’s appeal has sparked debates across political circles, with BJP leaders rallying behind his call for unity and opposition parties criticizing his statements. As the state gears up for the 2026 elections, the actor’s comments have added a new dimension to the political discourse in West Bengal.
