In a significant counter-terror operation, security forces neutralized two terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district. The encounter, which unfolded in the forested Ghati Juthana area near Jakhole village, also left five police personnel injured, including a Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO).
Acting on specific intelligence, security forces intercepted a heavily armed group of terrorists believed to have infiltrated from across the border. The operation involved a coordinated effort by the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Army, BSF, and CRPF. The injured personnel were promptly evacuated and are reported to be in stable condition.
The encounter, which lasted several days, highlighted the challenges faced by security forces in combating infiltration and terrorism in the region. Officials suspect the terrorists were part of a group that had evaded capture during an earlier operation in the Hiranagar sector.
The operation underscores the ongoing efforts of security forces to maintain peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir. Reinforcements, including advanced surveillance equipment and additional troops, were deployed to ensure the success of the mission.
